Adam Wogsland

Practice Concentrations:

Adam leads SW&L’s Business Law and Real Estate Practice Groups. He helps small and medium business organizations from start-up to succession, often serving as fractional general counsel. Adam focuses on negotiating, drafting, and closing business and real estate transactions.

Professional History:

Adam co-founded SW&L in 2013. This gives him perspective to understand and relate to business-owner clients. Prior to that, Adam clerked for the East Central Judicial District in North Dakota from 2006 to 2008 and worked for a Fargo law firm from 2008 to 2013.

Education History

Adam earned Bachelor of Arts degrees in History/Political Science and Criminal Justice at University of Jamestown. Adam was named College Fellow in each of his majors, an honor faculty awards to tutor and teach under the direction of the department chair. He was also inducted into the Alpha Chi National College Honor Society (given to students in the top 10% of the institution’s graduating class).

After graduating from the University of Jamestown, Adam attended the University of North Dakota School of Law. There, Adam concentrated on courses related to business formations and transactions. While at UND, Adam earned an externship placement with Judge Kermit Bye in the United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit, was named to The Order of Barristers (for recognition of advocacy skills), was elected to UND School of Law Moot Court Association, and graduated with distinction.

Personal Background

Adam grew up on a family farm in the very small town of Walum, North Dakota, and later moved to nearby Cooperstown, North Dakota. Adam met his wife, Coley, while attending Jamestown College. In his free time, he golfs as much as North Dakota weather permits, reads, and spends time with his family and friends. Adam also spends a lot of time trying to get his bulldog, Larry, to behave.

Community Involvement

Adam helped organize the SW&L Charitable Fund (held via the FM Area Foundation), which supports charitable causes throughout the region. Adam also volunteers his time and money to good causes throughout the area, including the Great North Pole, the Special Olympics Golf Classic fundraiser, BIOgirls, & the North Dakota Autism Center, Inc.
